2884_69839932190_6983919_n Joe’s eclectic mix of musical projects has spanned the spectrum from a cappella groups to ukulele duets. He has played bass in various bluegrass bands, notably with Becky Schlegel during her first appearance on A Prairie Home Companion. His own swing band, the Jaztronauts played weekly at Lee’s Liquor Lounge, made regular appearances on Channel 45’s Big Bad Movie and Saint Paul Saints games, and did a 3 week stint in Zurich. His original jazz/pop group the Smarts was the musical component of Minnesota Public Radio’s In the Loop program, and served as house band for the performing arts showcase series, Sample Night Live. Joe’s co-compositions formed the basis of the musical play, “Lemonade for the Lawnboy.” In 2018, he played in the pit band and on stage (and learned cello) for the remount of “Heaven” at Park Square Theater. Joe has lent his singing voice to commercials for GMAC, Miller Lite, Affinity Bank and more. Joe’s most recent passion project is devoted to rediscovering and celebrating the underappreciated genre of Elevator Pop
